Faith Through Miscarriage, Business & Buying A Home
A conversation between Christian & Abigail McPherson, guests; and Devaughn Williamson, host.
On this awesome episode of the Faith Ignite podcast, Christian and Abigail McPherson share their powerful journey of faith, and wow—what a story! Christian grew up in a single-parent home, where his mom worked multiple jobs to keep him in a faith-filled school. Every year, when tuition bills piled up and the future looked uncertain, God showed up BIG TIME—from surprise scholarships to anonymous donors paying off their balances. Even when food was scarce or they needed a car after an accident, God provided in miraculous ways. Christian’s life is a shining example of what it looks like when faith meets real-world struggles—and how God always comes through.
Abigail’s story is a little different but just as inspiring. She took a huge leap of faith by moving from Ohio to Oklahoma for college, leaving her comfort zone completely behind. That step of obedience led her to meet Christian (hello, answered prayer!). Together, they’ve built a beautiful family and leaned into faith during every twist and turn—including their journey to buy a home. Abigail shared how her faith muscles really got stretched during that season, especially when they sowed a MAJOR financial seed, trusting God to provide—and He did, beyond what they imagined.
Their love story is sweet, too—both of them prayed intentionally for their future spouse, down to the little details (Christian even prayed for a girl who could play ping pong and basketball, and guess what? Abigail nailed both!). Through their ups and downs, they keep circling back to one truth: God is faithful, and when you put your trust fully in Him, He works things out in ways you could never orchestrate on your own.
Back in early 2021, they were hunting for a house—but not just any house. They had their hearts set on a very specific neighborhood, with a yard big enough to match Abigail’s childhood memories. The odds? Pretty slim. There was only one house that ticked every box, and before they could even blink, eight other offers had rolled in. Talk about intimidating!
But here’s where faith came in. Even though they could only offer slightly above asking price, they prayed, trusted, and did something a little creative—adding a personal note mentioning a shared church connection with the seller. Against all odds, they were chosen. Not because they were the highest bidders, but because, as they put it, it was the undeniable favor of God. What felt impossible happened in just a weekend—something that many others spent months trying to achieve.
But their faith journey didn’t stop there. After settling into their dream home, Christian and Abigail faced a heart-wrenching miscarriage. It was one of those moments that shakes your faith to the core—the kind where you ask, “God, why?” They found themselves wrestling with the deep, raw questions of faith and trust when things don’t go the way you prayed for.
Yet, through the grief, they clung to hope. They leaned on each other and looked back at the “faith landmarks” in their lives—just like the Israelites in the Bible who built altars to remember God’s faithfulness. Slowly but surely, they saw God bring new life and new joy with the birth of their son, a living testimony of answered prayer.
What’s so inspiring is how Christian and Abigail tackle challenges together now. When one of them feels shaky in faith, the other steps up strong. Whether it’s trusting God for a second child or navigating the ups and downs of self-employment, they’ve created a rhythm: pray together, listen for God’s direction, fast if they feel led, and always—always—hold each other accountable to stay rooted in faith.
When Christian left his 9-to-5 to start his own business, it wasn’t a leap of luxury—it was a leap of faith. No safety net. No family blueprint. Just a whole lot of prayer, YouTube tutorials, and trust that God would provide. Meanwhile, Abigail stepped into the challenging and beautiful role of a stay-at-home mom. Together, they gave up the comfort of a steady paycheck and embraced a season that demanded sacrifice, discipline, and unwavering belief.
ut they didn’t do it blindly. Christian didn’t just say, “God will provide,” and sit back. He put in months of learning—SEO, lead generation, business strategy.
He matched his faith with wisdom and hustle. Abigail, too, leaned in spiritually, going on a media fast to eliminate distractions and reconnect deeply with God. That clarity? It brought growth, direction, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Was it easy? Absolutely not. There were days when the inbox was empty and bills were looming. Times when it was February 28th and March looked like a mystery. But every single time, God showed up—right on time. Month after month, their needs were met. Sometimes barely. Sometimes with overflow. But never once did God fail.
Now, nearly three years later, they can confidently say this: God honors faith backed by obedience. Their business is thriving. Their family is flourishing. And most importantly, their faith has grown stronger than ever.
Christian and Abigail’s story reminds us that faith isn’t just about believing God can—it’s about trusting that He will, even when the math doesn’t add up, and the path seems foggy. Whether you’re stepping into the unknown, starting something new, or just trying to hold on, let their journey be proof: when you give God your “yes,” He will take care of the rest.
