Give God Your Yes

A conversation between Jonas Tucker-Alleyne, guest; and Devaughn Williamson, host.

Jonas’s story is such a powerful testimony of faith, struggle, and perseverance. He story is a true testimony of what can happen when you say yes to God. He learned to keep his "yes" on the table for God—meaning, he committed to trusting and following God’s plan, even when it was hard. And every time he did, the blessings flowed. He shares moments of incredible provision: his tuition was covered, he got a new car, his credit cards were paid off, and food always found its way into his fridge. These were signs of how God provides and living in God’s economy unlocks the door to divine provision.

There were tough seasons. At one point, Jonas was donating plasma just to get by. He went from sleeping on a friend’s couch to landing a job at Target, working exhausting hours while trying to provide for his wife. He knew something had to change, and after praying about it, an unexpected job opportunity in Dallas appeared. The crazy part? He had stopped applying and literally told God, "If you want me to have a job, someone better call me." And someone did. They took another leap of faith, moving to Dallas, saying yes to God even when things were uncertain. But then, an unexpected setback—their house sale fell through, leaving them with two mortgages.

Instead of panicking, Jonas relied on the same faith that had carried him before. Month after month, God showed up—sometimes just in time—but always providing exactly what they needed.Fast forward, Jonas found himself in a new season of abundance, making more money than ever before. But God called him again—not just to enjoy the success but to be a faithful steward of what he had been given. He and his wife agreed to trust God with their finances, and in return, they saw financial miracles—paying off $20,000 in debt overnight and experiencing blessings beyond their expectations.

So Jonas was in what he thought was the perfect setup—great job, good money, plenty of time with his wife and daughter. Life was smooth. But then, God gave him a nudge: “Be ready to let this go.” And Jonas? He was like, “Nope. Not happening. This is too good!” He even rationalized it, thinking, “God, look at all the good I can do with this money!”

But sure enough, the job was taken away. It wasn’t because of performance—his role was simply no longer needed. It was a blow. But even before it happened, God had been whispering to him, “Get ready. Change is coming.”

Then, during a family vacation, people started telling him, “Hey, maybe you should think about going back into ministry.” And Jonas was like, “Absolutely not. Ministry doesn’t pay the bills!” But the idea kept surfacing. And finally, when he prayed about it God made it clear: “This is what I’ve been preparing you for.”

It all started making sense—his years in corporate America weren’t random. God had been equipping him with leadership, HR skills, crisis management—everything he would need for full-time ministry. And where did God lead him? Back to Eagle Sky Christian Camps, a place he thought was just a past season of his life. But this time, he wasn’t coming back as the scrappy young guy with ideas but no direction. He was refined, experienced, and ready to say yes to Jesus thgouh service.

One of the biggest lessons Jonas’s faith journey taught him? Faith isn’t just about sitting back and waiting for things to happen. It’s about being an active participant in what God is doing. Jonas shares how he and his wife have lived with open hands, giving to others even when they didn’t have a huge surplus. They gave because they understood that what they had wasn’t really *theirs*—it was God’s. And years later, someone sewed *$20,000* into their lives, far more than they had ever given. That’s God’s economy in action. Blessings multiplied in ways that don’t always make logical sense.

The key message? When God asks you to step out in faith, He’s already prepared everything you need. It might not come in the way you expect, but He’s got it covered. Our job is to say "yes" and trust. Jonas encourages everyone to stop being bystanders in their faith and start walking in faith even during hard times. Being passive might feel safer, but the real blessings come when you step out and say yes to God even when it feels uncertain.

If Jonas’s story moved you, consider sharing it with someone who needs encouragement. And I encourage you to partner with Faith Ignite to help bring more stories of hope to the world. Together, we can spread messages of God's faithfulness to those who need it most.
